Introduction
HideRegarding the old Christmas ornaments St. Nicholas is not represented very often as bishop with mitre and crook and other regalia. Much more commonly he appears as Santa, the Christmas man, with huge beard and severe face, dressed in a red, kneelong, furred greatcoat: the benevolent bestower who, on Christmas eve, is bringing the tree with toys and gifts to the children.
